THE PLANS

Daren and Lisa at Chadbourne+Doss Architects took all our input, input from the engineers and geotech firm, the City and our builder and came up with what we feel is going to be an immensely livable and beautiful home. Well-used space in all the right places and no under-used space.

The first image is the site plan. The front of the house faces South (left) and the back faces North (right) to the Columbia River. You can tell from all the skinny, close together gray lines that we have a very significant slope at the back half of the lot which provides us with those stunning views and all the building challenges that go with it.

The first floor includes the garage, a closet (our future elevator), the stairwell to the second floor, the entryway, laundry/mudroom, full bath, and Scott's den/office/second bedroom. There is a large deck off the den with gorgeous views of the Columbia River and Astoria and in the front a large courtyard area with a planned garden and fire pit.

The second floor plan includes the primary bed and bath over the garage with a small private deck at the back taking advantage of the views. At the top of the stairs is the closet (future elevator), then you turn left to our living room where the views immediately smack you over the head. Once you recover you'll find a very large deck facing the river and the city. Behind you, facing the street is a generous kitchen/dining area with a powder room and butler's pantry/office cubicle/craft area for me.
